Chemka hot springs
A spring-fed pool the colour of a swimming pool, under fig trees, an hour from Moshi.
Chemka, also called Kikuletwa, is a pool of clear warm water that rises out of the dry plain south of the mountain and sits under a roof of fig roots. There is nothing to do there except swim, float, snorkel over the little fish and eat lunch in the shade, which is the point. The best recovery day there is after Kilimanjaro.
What makes this one
- Warm, glass-clear spring water
- Snorkelling among the fish
- A picnic in the shade of the figs
- The right day after a climb or a safari

Pickup in Moshi

- Step 3
Lunch and back
A picnic under the trees, then the drive back, in Moshi by mid afternoon.
