How a booking with us works

Who you are dealing with

Tima Tours & Safaris is a licensed Tanzanian tour operator based in Stone Town, Zanzibar, and a member of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators. Our office address is PO Box 4194, Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Enquiries and proposals

Enquiring is free and commits you to nothing. A proposal from us names the lodges, the flights and transfers, what is included and what is not, and the price per person. It stays valid for the period written on it, because lodge availability and airline fares move.

Confirming a booking

A booking exists once you approve the proposal in writing and we confirm in writing that the lodges and flights are held. At that point we agree the deposit amount and the date the balance is due, and both appear on your invoice. Nothing is charged before you have seen those figures.

Prices are in US dollars, per person sharing unless the proposal says otherwise. Park fees, government taxes and airline fares can change between booking and travel; your proposal states which parts of the price are fixed.

Changes and cancellation

Dates and lodges can usually be changed before travel, subject to availability and to the conditions of the lodges and airlines involved. The cancellation terms that apply to your trip are written in your proposal and confirmed on your invoice; where a lodge or airline applies its own charge, that charge is passed on at cost.

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical care and evacuation, taken out when you pay your deposit.

Your responsibilities

Passports, visas, vaccinations and insurance are yours to arrange; we tell you what is needed for your itinerary and check it again when we send your final documents. On safari, the guide's instructions about wildlife and vehicles are to be followed; they exist for your safety.

Our responsibilities

We plan the trip, book every service on it, and stay reachable on WhatsApp before, during and after it. Lodges, airlines, park authorities and boat operators are independent businesses; where one of them fails to provide a service, we work to put it right on the spot and their own conditions apply to that service. We are not responsible for delays or changes caused by weather, airline schedules, park closures or events beyond our control, but we will always help you find the best alternative.

Itineraries, starting prices and inclusions on this site are kept current but are a starting point; your proposal is the document that counts. Photographs are of the places described, taken on our trips or licensed for the site.
