Why we book it
Lions Paw is a small camp of heated tents in the forest on the north-eastern rim of the crater, next to the Lemala descent road, which is the quietest way down. The tents have proper bathrooms and wood stoves for the cold rim nights.
It is where our Rhino Tracking Journey sleeps for two nights, so the crater floor is reached before the day visitors arrive from Karatu.
Our mainland safaris quote this lodge or similar: a property of the same standard if it is full or has moved with the season. The exact lodge is named in your proposal, before any payment.
