Why we book it
Smiles is a beach hotel at Nungwi, on the northern tip of the island, where the sea stays deep enough to swim whatever the tide is doing. Rooms open onto the garden and the beach, there is a pool, and the village, the boat builders and the sunset dhows are a walk along the sand.
It is where our longest trip, Tanzania Magic, ends: five days of Nungwi after Gombe and the mainland, with diving, snorkelling and the Mnemba boats bookable from the beach.
Our mainland safaris quote this lodge or similar: a property of the same standard if it is full or has moved with the season. The exact lodge is named in your proposal, before any payment.
