Why we book it
The Original Maasai Lodge was built and is run with the Maasai of the area under West Kilimanjaro, rooms modelled on the round houses of a boma but with proper beds and hot showers, and the mountain across the plain at dawn. The money stays in the community, in a clinic and schools.
It is the West Kilimanjaro stop on the Northern Tanzania Immersive safari: walks with Maasai guides rather than game drives, and evenings around the fire with the people who live there.
Our mainland safaris quote this lodge or similar: a property of the same standard if it is full or has moved with the season. The exact lodge is named in your proposal, before any payment.
